"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant

It never was God's desire to destroy the earth.  He had no choice.  You see, Man's sin had corrupted what God had made perfect, and God is incompatible with sin.  He and sin can't exist together, just as fire and water cannot occupy the same space.  Genesis 6:6 says God grieved and His heart was filled with pain.  Do these emotions come from an angry God seeking vengeance.  No, this is a product of a God of love.  Yes, God's love for Man has never faltered.  In fact, He had a plan that would one day rid the universe of sin forever.  Take a look at the plan that required the ultimate sacrifice.
